About Avalokiteshvara
Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, personifies the boundless love, mercy, and compassion of all enlightened beings. His vow to save all beings from suffering and ignorance is central to his spiritual path. According to Buddhist mythology, Avalokiteshvara’s dedication to guiding beings was so strong that he swore to split his head into a thousand pieces if he faltered in his mission. When his zeal waned, his head indeed split into a thousand pieces. In response, Buddha Amitabha compassionately brought him back to life, gifting him eleven heads and a thousand arms, each representing his endless compassion and his commitment to rescuing all sentient beings.

In this Thangka, Avalokiteshvara is depicted with his thousand arms, each featuring an eye on the center of the palm, symbolizing his infinite wisdom and clarity. Of his eleven heads, ten are peaceful, representing his gentle, compassionate actions, while one head is wrathful, signifying that sometimes compassion manifests through forceful means. His outstretched arms and the eyes on his palms symbolize his unwavering desire to reach out to those lost in samsara, with the wisdom to help them find liberation.

I ordered a Tangka painting. The quality is excellent, even earned the compliment by a Chief Monk. The delivery was swift (only took 3 days from Nepal to Hong Kong).
