Mandalas are perfectly shaped creating a sacred geometry. They are used as a spiritual guidance tool for establishing sacred space which is beneficial for the energy flow in the place they are hung.
This Mandala is inspired to the five precept of Theravada Buddhism: the five rules that Buddhist practitioners should follow to facilitate their practice: do not harm or kill, do not steal, avoid sexual misconduct, do not lie and do not use alcohol or drugs.
These five precepts have common elements with most ethical rules in other major Buddhist traditions. The five precepts are represented in this mandala by five Buddha depicted inside five different circles.
Mandalas hold spiritual significance and make artistic appearances in cultures & philosophies across the globe. The famed Swiss psychiatrist, Dr. Carl Jung, used mandala in his work with clients. He felt when concentrated upon, mandala can bring up deeper human consciousness, which helped the client to receive revelation about the true potential and awareness of the self.
